Thumbalina - working cat's Story
Thumbalina is an unsocialized, outdoor-experienced cat who has spent their life living outside and is best suited for a working-cat placement. Having lived among other feral cats on a property where they received food and water but little human interaction, Thumbalina prefers to keep distance and is not comfortable with handling. During intake, Thumbalina was fearful and avoided touch, which is expected for a cat with a feral background, but there is no known history of bite or scratch behavior. Thumbalina will thrive in an outdoor environment such as a barn, stable, workshop, or rural property where they can have safe shelter, regular food and water, and minimal expectations for social interaction. In the right setting, Indigo can help naturally manage rodents while settling into life as a hardworking member of your property.

Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Michael R. Frey Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt
