Meet Thor! <br/><br/>Thor is a total love bug with a HUGE personality and enough energy to keep you entertained all day. He loves attention, playing with toys, and absolutely loves his scratching posts. But when playtime is over, this little guy is all about the cuddles -- which is probably why his foster mom calls him Bear Bear. 🐻 He's a sweet, playful little guy who doesn't let his special needs stop him from being a kitten and having a good time.<br/><br/>Thor has a moderate case of cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which mainly affects his back legs, balance, and coordination. He gets around just fine, although he has a pretty adorable tendency to "drift" around corners. He can do a lot of the same things any other cat can do, but some things are definitely a little more challenging for him.<br/><br/>Because of his CH, Thor will need to be an indoor only cat and will need a home with someone who has experience with cats with cerebellar hypoplasia. His balance and coordination issues mean he isn't able to safely navigate the outdoors, defend himself from other animals, or get away from predators, so keeping him safely indoors is a must!<br/><br/>Thor will absolutely try to jump like any other cat, but he isn't always great at judging distances or sticking the landing. Because of that, high furniture, elevated areas, and stairs will need to be limited or blocked off. A fall from a high spot could cause serious injuries, including broken teeth or bones. Adding soft bumpers or barriers around his favorite hangout spots is also a great way to give him some extra protection.<br/><br/>And no, you don't need to carpet your entire house for Thor! What he does need is some good traction under those little feet. Slippery hardwood or tile can make it much harder for him to walk and run confidently. Non slip rugs, yoga mats, or foam runners can make a huge difference and give him the grip he needs. Keeping his nails just a little longer can also help him get some extra traction.<br/><br/>Thor is currently living his best life in a foster home where his needs can be accommodated safely. Because he is in foster, meeting Thor is by appointment only.
