Thomas's Story

Hi, my name is Thomas ! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Thomas is an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate cat. His previous owner did note that Thomas had anxiety that may have caused overgrooming. His overgrooming may also been caused by a food allergy. At this time, we do not know if the overgrooming is caused by anxiety, food allergy, or a combination of them both. Best to consult with your established vet.
-Can Live with Cats: No, due to his strict diet to help his condition he has to be the only cat in the home to ensure he is only eating the prescription diet.
-Can Live with Dogs: No. Thomas would do best as the only cat to ensure his stress levels are low.
-Can Live with Kids: Thomas can live with older cat savvy kids that will ensure a calm household for Thomas. Up to counselors discretion.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Supervised outdoor is okay.
-History of Litter Box Issues: none
-Energy Level: moderate
-Bite History: none
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No, Thomas is all ready to go home!
Additional Information:
Thomas is a friendly, playful, and affectionate cat. At this time, we do not know if the overgrooming is caused by anxiety, food allergy, or a combination of them both. Best to consult with your established vet. Our veterinarian has started Thomas on a prescription diet to see if his overgrooming is caused by a food allergy. Due to this, Thomas can only eat the prescription diet as other foods may worsen the skin condition. Thomas has lived with a 5yr old cat in his previous home which he played with. However, due to his strict dietary needs, he has to be the only pet in the home to ensure he is only consuming the prescription diet. Thomas has lived with 8 and 10 year old's that he played and got along with. Thomas can live with cat savvy older children that will ensure a calm environment for him. A calm and consistent home would be best for Thomas. Thomas is ready for his purr-ever home!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
