Theia's Story

Theia – The Mother of Light, Looking for a Home to Shine In

When Theia came to us, she was barely six months old — still a kitten herself — and already the devoted mother to three newborns: Helios, Selene, and Eos. Her babies, named after the gods of the sun, moon, and dawn, have all found their forever homes. Now it’s Theia’s turn to step out of their celestial glow and shine in her own light.

Her name is more than just a pretty myth. In Greek mythology, Theia was one of the twelve Titans — the daughter of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth), the goddess of sight and vision, and the divine being who endowed gold, silver, and gems with their brilliance and intrinsic value. It’s a fitting name for this gentle and curious young cat, whose quiet presence and soft affection make her shine in her own right.

After raising her kittens, Theia has taken her well-earned rest at the Pawsitivity Cat Café, where she’s been learning to rediscover the world on her own terms. She’s still shy with new people, but her confidence grows a little more each day. Once she trusts you, she loves chin and shoulder scritches and will even nudge you for more attention. When she’s truly happy, she’ll give an enthusiastic body lean — her way of saying “I love you.”

Like many cats with big personalities, Theia can get a little overstimulated and give a quick love nibble to let you know she needs a break. She’s not big on being picked up, but she adores lounging beside you and soaking in quiet companionship. She loves toys like the worm-on-a-string and will even play catch if you toss one her way.

At just about a year old, Theia is still blossoming into the cat she’s meant to be — radiant, curious, and full of heart. Her story is one of resilience, warmth, and light — exactly as her name foretold.

If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know…

I’ve already carried the sun, moon, and dawn in my paws — now I’m ready to find a home where I can simply be me. I’ll be your quiet companion, your soft place to land, and your reminder that even after the hardest storms, light always finds its way through.

Quick Facts:

Age: ~1 year
Gender: Female
Vaccinations: Up to date
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
FeLV & FIV: Negative
Good With: Cats, possibly dogs, and respectful children

Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:

All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:

Spayed or neutered

Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations

Microchipped prior to adoption

Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).

Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.

We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.

Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible.
