Theena's Story
Hi there, I'm Theena. CocoaKitties saved me and many of my friends from a rough situation where we weren't getting the love we needed. A bunch of us were nervous about people, so we kept our distance. For awhile, I even lived with an indoor-outdoor colony in an enclosure which is why a few of my pictures show me outside! A bunch of volunteers helped socialize us and we all learned that people are actually pretty nice. Now that I'm much more confident with people, I'm ready to leave those days behind and live my best indoor life.

I'm a big fan of being up high. Cat trees, bookshelves, you name it, I'll scale it! Being so far up and being able to keep an eye on my surroundings helps me feel much more confident. I'm happy to run around on the ground, make no mistake, but my idea of fun is watching from on high and calling to my Foster Mom for attention. She says I'm a chatterbox and always talking. I have to make sure that silly lady listens somehow, though! If I touch anything soft, I have to make biscuits on it immediately. Beds, pillows, the soft part of my cat towers, you name it and I love it.

I'm fine with other cats, especially those that are more laid-back and willing to respect my space. Sometimes if cats come on too strong, I get spooked. Foster Mom says I'm all bark and no bite because I'll hiss to warn the other cat away, but if they don't listen I just run for it. If I'm trapped, though, I'm not afraid to give them a gentle bop so they remember to keep their distance. I'm a lover, not a fighter! My foster siblings who are more relaxed are my favorites and I love snuggling up with them.

It's time for me to find my forever family and a happily ever after where I can get all the ear scratches I want and watch over my family like the little guardian angel I am. Maybe that could be with you? If so, please let CocoaKitties know and I'll be excited to meet you!

To adopt me please fill out the online application at:
https://cocoakitties.org/adoption-application
Cocoa Kitties rescues cats off the streets of Hershey and surrounding towns. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that is funded 100% by donations. We do not operate a shelter but keep our kitties in foster homes. We rely on foster families who open their homes to care for the kitties we rescue. We ask that you complete an application before we send you into the homes of our volunteers. Also please keep in mind that applications are always being processed so we cannot guarantee the availability of a kitty until your application is approved. We operate on a first approved basis. We work very hard to process applications in a timely manner but rely on your references, veterinarian, and landlord to respond so please let them know we will be contacting them.
~You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
~Your current pets need to be up to date on vaccinations and preventatives and they need to be altered.
~ If you are adopting a kitten and have no other pets at home please consider adopting two. Kittens thrive in pairs.
Kittens: $125
Cats: $100
Before they go home our kitties are:
· Vaccinated age appropriately (Rabies and FVRCP)
· Treated for internal and external parasites*
· Tested for FELV/FIV
· Microchipped
· Spayed/Neutered (for kittens that is around 12 weeks of age)
· Started on flea prevention
*Parasites are common in kittens and cats and may take time to treat completely. We cannot guarantee that your cat or kitten will be completely worm/parasite free at adoption.
We do not declaw our kitties and do not allow adopters to declaw them.
We require our kitties to live indoor lives.
Lifetime Commitment: Please remember a kitty requires a 100% committed family for the kitty's entire lifetime which is some cases can be more than 20 years. Talk this through completely with your family and make sure everyone is onboard before completing this application.
