Taco's Story
Meet Taco.

The Ingredients
Taco came to us as part of a "bulk order" rescue (we took in his whole neighborhood, honestly), but he’s easily the most premium item on the menu. He’s a young guy with his whole life ahead of him—think of him as a fresh soft-shell: flexible, mild, and pairs well with everything.

The Flavor Profile
Social Butterfly (with his own kind): Taco is the ultimate diplomat. He gets along with every other cat in the building. If you already have a feline squad, Taco will slide into the group chat like he’s been there for years.

"Low Maintenance" is his Middle Name: He’s not a diva. He doesn't demand organic salmon or a heated throne. He’s just happy to be here.

The "Secret Menu" Personality: Because he’s currently living in our "General Population" wing (it’s a bit of a party in there), he can be a little shy at first. He’s the guy at the party standing near the snack table—he wants to talk, he just needs you to say "hello" first.

The Payoff: Once he realizes you’re his person, the shy act disappears. You’ll get the full Taco experience: purrs, head-boops, and total loyalty.

Why You Need a Taco in Your Life:
Tuesday will never be boring again.

He’s Carbon Neutral: He doesn't require gas, just love (and maybe some kibble).

He’s Great at Keeping Secrets: He’s a fantastic listener and will never tell anyone about that show you’re secretly binge-watching.

Chef’s Note: Taco is looking for a home where he can transition from "Shelter Cat" to "Couch Potato." He’s ready to be the sidekick you didn't know you needed.

Ready to place your order? Come meet Taco today! He’s crunchy on the outside (just a little shy!) but 100% softie on the inside.

No delivery fees, but a lifetime of love is required upon pickup.

Are you tired of filling out the long applications? Did no one get back to you? If they did, was the cat was already adopted?

If you’re interested in meeting Taco, email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.
During your visit, feel free to spend time with the cat you want to meet, but also take a look around. We always have cats with a wide variety of ages, coat patterns/lengths, and personalities. High energy antics? You bet. Couch potatoes? Check. Sweet, purring snugglers? Roger that. And please don’t overlook the shy wallflower who keeps glancing your way—introverts need love too. Often times, a cat is simply overwhelmed with their new rescue
environment and will blossom in a calmer home environment. Spend some time with our cats, watch them interact with each other and with you, and get their “vibe.” You’ll know the right cat—sometimes you choose and sometimes they choose you.

We do things the way we want to here at Save Our Strays. I was told no to adopting a cat before, from a very big shelter, for a foolish reason. I know how you feel and all the extensive BS-some of those applications ask. it is almost like they don't want the cat to find a home. Facts: You cannot predict the future through a questionnaire. We are all adults; If you have another cat they need to be up to date on vaccines esp FVRCP (ask me) and combo tested for FeLV & FIV before you adopt. FIV is nothing but FeLV is sadly and those cats should be only kitties. Cats with FeLV look the same as any other cat, they can live many years and not become sick.

I will tell you all my same spiel I tell everyone else, if you adopt from us. Do not declaw your cat, if the cat is sick- have enough money to take them to the vet. If you ever need me, call me. We talk to you and ask questions ourselves and we know the cats well. If we think it is not going to work out, we will let you know. Everyone who is able and willing, deserves the companionship of a cat. It's an art that we have purfected here! Most of the cats are in the shelter, all in one place. We take you around to the different rooms and then you & yours can go and visit where you want too. Seems simple right? Well, it is! Bring your own carrier just encase you do pick a new BFF. All you have to do is schedule an appointment.

Since 2020, SOS has rescued and adopted more than 1,400 stray cats in the Pittsburgh area. Included in our adoption fee is full vetting. All of our cats are dewormed, have received Capstar for any flea issues and Selamectin for any parasites, received two FVRCP vaccines as well as their rabies vaccine, are treated for ear mites (if needed), are combo tested for FeLV and FIV, and are microchipped which will transfer to you. Once the adult cats are fully vetted and vaccinated, they freely roam across two floors and (Pittsburgh weather permitting…) also spend time in an outside Catio to soak up the sunshine.
We also have a free-roaming room for the fully vetted kittens to play, run, and practice their fancy acrobatics and sideways kitten shuffles.

SOS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our adoption fee, along with donations, allow us to tend to our rescued cats in the manner in which they deserve: fully vetted and fully cared for. We also allocate funds to continue TNR (trap, neuter, and release) efforts for all of the strays who are too unsocialized and human-adverse for an indoor home. By spaying/neutering, these
cats live a healthier life and no longer contribute to increasing the stray cat population.

When you adopt a cat from SOS, you’re doing more than giving a cat a good home. You’re also helping those stray cats who cannot be homed. One cat’s adoption improves multiple cats’ lives.

About SOSs Founder: Faon traps, rescues, and gives shelter to the SOS cats; they reside on the upper two floors of her home which have been modified to best meet the cats’ needs. She is extremely knowledgeable about each cat in her care and is happy to assist you finding the one who best matches your lifestyle and your home. She, along with a small team of dedicated women volunteers, work with SOS cats who have been rescued from a wide range of outside scenarios (some being outright deplorable) and transform them through veterinary care, socialization and behavioral work, and a whole lot of love into happy, healthy, and thriving cats.

Email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit.

Your new best friend is waiting for you
