Sylvie's Story

Sylvie is a domestic short haired, dilute tortoiseshell, spayed female cat who is estimated to be between 2 and 3 years old as of January 2026. Sylvie is the best lap kitty. She is polite, gentle, and purrs away all of your anxiety! Sylvie makes a cold day snuggly as she loves to burrow under blankets to sleep. Or Sylvie enjoys kneading plush blankets like the best biscuit baker. She enjoys catnip toys and her scratching post and wants to keep all her claws on all her paws. Sylvie got a middle name name Sue that she responds to and likes so it stuck.

Sylvie is an easy keeper. She is affectionate without being demanding, and a great couch companion for binge watching your favorite shows. She has tidy litter box habits. Sylvie is looking for an indoor-only home as her previous home was not ideal for her, but she is amazingly resilient.

Ideally Sylvie would prefer a home where she is the only pet. However, Sylvie has tolerated the presence of kittens, but adult cats are a big no. She was recently around well-behaved, cat-friendly dogs and did great! So she could have a doggy friend!

Spayed; current on vaccinations; tested negative for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV); and litter box trained.

Adoption fee is partially sponsored by her rescuer.

Location: Detroit Lakes, MN area, but transport to the Fargo, ND - Moorhead, MN area or 1 hour from Detroit Lakes, MN can be arranged.

Far North Feline Rescue's Adoption Policy
Initial contact is usually made via email. Potential adopters are asked to provide basic information such as if they rent or own their residence; have any other pets in the household; have any children in the household; and if they are an established client with a veterinary clinic. Answers to these questions help us determine the best fit for them among the cats available for adoption. Then a meet and greet is set up for that cat in the foster home where more questions can be asked, and the adopter and cat interaction can be observed. Our adoption process is NOT that the first one to contact us is the one who gets to adopt the kitten/cat, and that can be difficult for certain potential adopters to accept. Our goal is to put the kitten or cat in the right home the first time. We allow for a 2 week trial period and the cat or kitten can then be returned to us without judgment and the adoption fee refunded.
