Hi, I’m Sylvia.<br/><br/>When I first arrived at the shelter, I wasn’t quite ready to introduce myself to the world. I spent a lot of time tucked underneath a blanket, quietly watching everything around me while I figured out whether this new place—and these new people—were safe.<br/><br/>With patience, time and lots of gentle encouragement from the volunteers, I started to come out of my shell.<br/><br/>First, I came out from under the blanket. Then I received free roam privileges and started hanging out on the top shelf where I could keep an eye on everything. And these days? I’m often right at the door to greet the volunteers when they arrive.<br/><br/>I’ve gone from watching life from a hiding place to wanting to be part of whatever is happening.<br/><br/>I’ll follow the humans around while they work, supervise what they’re doing and happily join in when the toys come out. I’m curious, playful, engaging and also wonderfully easygoing. I get along well with my shelter siblings and still appreciate a cozy spot when it’s time to relax.<br/><br/>The volunteers have had the privilege of watching my personality unfold and apparently I had quite a lot of it waiting to come out.<br/><br/>Now I’m ready for the next chapter of my story: a home of my own, where I can keep exploring, playing, following my people around—and becoming even more myself.<br/><br/>I spent my first days at the shelter hiding under a blanket.
