Sylvester's Story

HISTORY: SYLVESTER was brought in as a stray from Albuquerque and found to be FIV+. However, as is typical with many FIV+ cats, this cat has no symptoms, is in excellent health and expected to live a normal lifespan. While conventional thinking is to only place an FIV+ cat in a home with no other cats or with another FIV+ cat, there are many “mixed households.” According to Cornell University, the primary mode of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) transmission is through repeated fights resulting in the exchange of blood, and it poses no threat to humans or other species. If you would like to consider SYLVESTER for adoption but need more information on FIV, educational materials can be requested by emailing adoptions@fandfnm.org.

TEMPERAMENT: SYLVESTER is a big boy with a big heart who would appreciate a patient home. He is good at communicating his needs and enjoys ear scratches and treats. He is a big lovebug and will beg for pets! SYLVESTER would prefer to be the only pet in the home.

AGE: born approx 1/11/2021
MICROCHIP #: -6376
DATE OF STERILIZATION: neutered, date unknown
VAX RECORD: FVRCP #1: 1/19/26, FVRCP #2: 2/4/26, FVRCP expires: 2/4/27; Rabies expires: 1/19/27
FELV/FIV test: 1/11/26: FeLV Negative, FIV Positive

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

ADOPTION FEE: $100
If you may be interested in adopting, please complete our online application: https://www.fandfnm.org/application.
