Meet Svedka! She is a 1-year-old beautiful shorthaired brown tabby who's ready to find a loving home to call her own. She came to us when her family was moving and unable to take her along, and she's been patiently waiting since May 16, 2026 for her second chance. Svedka is a very sweet girl who may need a little extra time to settle into her new home before feeling fully safe and comfortable. With patience, understanding, and a calm environment, she has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. She may do best in a home with older children who understand how to respectfully interact with cats. Svedka could do well living with other cats with a proper introduction, but she would prefer a home without dogs. Svedka is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Capital Area Humane Society's Adoption Policy

The purpose of our adoption criteria is to ensure a consistent, fair process and to provide every potential adopter with an equal opportunity to welcome a new pet into their home. All animals are adopted to individuals who agree to follow the guidelines outlined in the adoption contract. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and are required to complete an adoption questionnaire, as well as provide valid identification and proof of current residence. Pets are placed in homes where they will be cared for primarily as indoor companions, and adopters must commit to providing lifelong care, including proper food, water, shelter, and regular exercise. Animals may be adopted as gifts in accordance with our gift adoption policy. Additionally, to ensure the safety and well-being of our animals, we do not proceed with adoptions to individuals who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
