Stew - The Tiny Vampire's Story

Meet Stew!

Most of the time, he goes by Stew. But when he's being especially mischievous, he becomes Stewart. And when the full government name comes out, he knows it's time to get it together.

Stew entered foster care at just 5 months old with a severely shattered back leg. After waiting two weeks for the swelling to subside, he underwent an amputation—and handled it like a champion. In fact, the very next day he was climbing and swinging from the cat tree like Tarzan.

Actually, Stew is pretty convinced he is Tarzan.

He loves anything that gets his adrenaline pumping: climbing, jumping, exploring, and turning every room into his personal jungle gym. But underneath all that adventure is one of the sweetest cuddle bugs you'll ever meet. Stew enjoys being held, loves a good scratch, and is happiest when he's close to his people.

He's also absolutely obsessed with cat springs. Every night he carries one to bed, and don't be surprised if you wake up in the morning to find you've been sleeping on it all night.

Stew can definitely be a little sassy, but honestly, it's part of his charm. His dramatic moments are usually more entertaining than troublesome, and he's guaranteed to keep you laughing with his big personality and endless antics.

He's also quite the conversationalist. Stew loves to chat, especially when dinner is involved. The moment he realizes a meal is being prepared, he starts providing enthusiastic commentary and showing off what we like to call his Spider-Man moves.

Despite having only one back leg, Stew is absolutely determined to master the art of counter surfing. His ultimate goal is to one day leap onto the counter and personally supervise dinner preparations. He has successfully made it a few times. The rest of his attempts? Well, let's just say the landings haven't always been graceful—but Stew is far tougher than he looks and never lets a little tumble discourage him.

Stew has lived successfully with cats of all ages, from tiny bottle babies to senior cats, and he genuinely enjoys having furry companions around. He's also very comfortable with dogs. In his current foster home, he happily shares space with a 120-pound Great Pyrenees, a 70-pound Labrador Retriever, and a 70-pound Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix.

And then there are Stew's teeth. He has the most beautiful pearly-white little vampire fangs you've ever seen, and honestly, they're our favorite thing about him. Whether he's chatting about dinner, carrying around his beloved cat spring, or plotting his next Spider-Man leap, those tiny vampire teefs are usually on full display. One look at them and it's impossible not to smile.

Whether he's making new friends, showing off his climbing skills, carrying his beloved cat spring around the house, or narrating dinner preparations, Stew brings energy, humor, and affection wherever he goes.

Stew may only have three legs, but he doesn't let that define him—and neither should anyone else. He climbs, plays, zooms, explores, and gets into mischief just like any other cat. The only difference is that he does it all with a little extra determination and a lot more personality.

To Stew, having three legs isn't a limitation. It's simply part of who he is. He doesn't know he's any different, and after spending time with him, you'll probably forget it too.

If you're looking for a cat who will keep you laughing, keep you company, and keep life interesting, Stew is ready to swing his way into your heart.

Stew is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. His adoption fee is $300.

When Stew's Adoption Application is received, you will be contacted about transport details.

If interested in meeting Stew, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $100–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
