Stew - The 3 Legged King (Adoption Pending)'s Story

Meet Stew!

Also known as Stewart, Stewart Little, Lil Stew, and Stewie — this little guy already has quite the collection of nicknames!

Stew came into foster care after it was discovered that he needed a leg amputation. While we don’t know exactly what caused his injury, the best guess is that he may have been sideswiped by a car or possibly thrown from a vehicle.

A few weeks ago, Stew had his leg amputated — and it hasn’t slowed him down one bit! This resilient little guy runs, plays, and explores just like any other kitten.

In fact, Stew thinks he’s Tarzan when it comes to cat trees and tall scratching posts. He swings, climbs, and launches himself around without a single care in the world. Missing a leg certainly hasn’t slowed down his adventurous spirit!

Stew has been raised in a busy foster home with cats of all ages, from tiny bottle baby kittens to a wise 12-year-old senior. He’s also grown up alongside a 100+ lb Great Pyrenees and a 60+ lb Lab, both of whom he gets along with wonderfully.

He’s great with kids too! Stew has spent time with children from ages 3–12. He’s even gone to preschool with his foster mom where he’s been wrangled like a little wild hog by excited kiddos — and he’s also been happily snuggled by his 12-year-old aunt. Through it all, Stew just takes it in stride and enjoys the attention.

Stew’s favorite things to do, you ask? Well… where do we start?

Stew LOVES cat springs. If you hear a strange noise in the middle of the night, don’t worry — it’s not an intruder. It’s just Stew launching his spring down the hallway and bouncing it off your baseboards like a tiny nighttime demolition crew.

He’s also a huge fan of catnip. His preferred method? Eat a little… roll in it… zoom around… then repeat until he decides he’s bored.

A cardboard box? Perfect. Instant hide-and-seek arena.

And bedtime? That’s when the real shenanigans begin. First, he starts out sweet — curling up by your legs or snuggling under the covers. But once you’re half asleep… that’s when Stew makes his move. His target of choice? Your toes.

Life with Stew is never boring, and his big personality more than makes up for his missing leg. This fearless, hilarious little guy truly lives life to the fullest.

Stew is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but can be transported to the northeast. His adoption fee is $300.

When Stew's Adoption Application is received, you will be contacted about transport details.

If interested in meeting Stew, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $80–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
