Stevie & Marvin's Story

Stevie & Marvin are a pair of tight-knit brothers who are looking for a home together. They are young (1.5 years), playful, affectionate, and handsome - the whole package!

Stevie is a sweet guy who is becoming more friendly and cuddly every day. He started off a little bit shy but has really been coming out of his shell as he's gotten to know his foster family. Stevie is always curious about what his foster mom is doing, especially when it involves running water in the kitchen or the bathroom. He is the more eccentric of the two cats. Stevie loves jingly toys and pieces of plastic. Hair elastics are his absolute favourite and he makes it his mission to drown every elastic he finds in his water bowl. When he's done playing, Stevie loves getting scratches around his chin and his back!!

Marvin started out quite curious and social and is the more quick to adapt of the two cats, however, he can sometimes he a bit nervous when someone is walking around the house in shoes or moves too quickly near him. He seems especially skittish around legs and feet. However, if you're sitting down relaxing, he likes to be near you. Marvin is the lower-energy of the two cats. He has a beautiful singing voice, he really enjoys cardboard boxes, and he loves looking out the windows. Marvin plays less intensely with toys than his brother, but the two play very nicely with each other and get along so well. They spend most of their time near each other, nuzzling and chirping. They prefer to eat together. They both really enjoy anything with catnip in it!

The ideal home for this pair is one that is lower on the energy scale, but also one that can accommodate and enrich both of them. They will be very happy and enriched in a spacious home (not a small apartment or suite) with lots or room to explore. They will do well with teens and will seek out social interaction. Neither has any experience with dogs, and due to Marvin's nervousness around legs and feet that move fast, a home with younger children or high-energy teens wont be the right fit.

If you’d like to apply to adopt this sweet pair, please visit https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/ to learn about our adoption process and for our online adoption application.

Victoria Pet Adoption Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there. A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps: To start the adoption process, please complete the online adoption application found at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption-process/. If our adoption team feels as though your home will be a great fit for one of our pets they will contact you to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the animal of interest. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit. One of our volunteers will contact you after the visit and will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of. (For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about. The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted. Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together! Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted. Adoption Fees are as Follows: Kittens (up to 12 months of age) $400 Adult Cats (1 yr - 8yrs) $300 Senior Cats (9 yrs and older) $250 Special Needs Cats (other than kittens) $250 Puppies (up to 12 months of age) $600 Adult Dogs (1 yr - 8yrs) $400 Senior Dogs (9 yrs and older) $300 Special Needs dogs (other than puppies) $300 Rabbits $50 Guinea Pigs $30 Rats/hamsters $20 Mice $10 Adoption fees for other species may vary
