Stella's Story
Stella – A Special Little Lady with Extra Toes and Hidden Sweetness

Quick Facts
Age: 8 years old
Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Shorthair (Polydactyl)
Vaccinations: Up to date
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
FeLV & FIV: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
Litter Trained: Yes
Good With: Cats and respectful children

Stella is an 8-year-old beauty with a quiet nature, a tender heart, and one very adorable feature that makes her extra special — she has six toes on each foot.

She was surrendered to the Oswego County SPCA by her owner and is now looking for a loving home where she can settle in, feel safe, and be appreciated for the wonderful cat she is.

Stella is a little more reserved when you first meet her. She can come across as aloof at the beginning, but the truth is that she simply takes a little time to feel comfortable. Change is hard, especially for a mature cat who has lost the home she once knew. But if you are patient and let Stella move at her own pace, she begins to open up and show you the sweet cat underneath.

Right now, we are also helping Stella put on a little weight. She is getting the care and support she needs, and she deserves a home where she can continue to feel safe, nourished, and loved.

Stella is the kind of cat who will be especially rewarding for the adopter who understands that not every cat rushes right into your lap on day one. Some cats need a little time. Some cats need you to earn their trust. And when they do finally decide you are their person, it means something extra special.

With her unique polydactyl paws, her quiet dignity, and her gentle spirit, Stella is the kind of cat who leaves a lasting impression. She is looking for a calm, patient home where she can settle in, gain confidence, and finally enjoy the comfort and stability she deserves.

If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know

I might seem a little aloof when we first meet, but I promise there is more to me than first impressions. I’ve been through a lot of change, and I just need a little time to feel safe again. Once I settle in, I will show you my softer side. I’m also pretty special if I do say so myself — I have six toes on each foot, which makes me extra adorable. If you are patient, kind, and willing to let me open up at my own pace, I think I could be a wonderful companion.

Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:

All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
Spayed or neutered
Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipped prior to adoption
Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
