Starry Night's Story

Starry Night was an orphaned young kitten when his mother was killed crossing the street, more than likely carrying him in her mouth. He made it across two roads from the corner where she was killed at. It was dark and cold and wet the night I heard what sounded like a bird in a nest. I went looking for the sound he was making but it would stop when ever he saw me approaching. Thinking it was a bird in a tree, I went home. The next night he was crying nextdoor near my bedroom window. It was dark and I could not see him. Still his meow did not even sound like a cat. The next day I saw him under the crawl space and set a trap but caught a possum instead! So we tried to trap him for a few more days and I was leaving trails of food out but not too much because I wanted him in the trap. Starry Night was charmed by a little rescue dog I had up for adoption named Lacey. She somehow communicated to him that this place was alright. Then my little chihuahua did the same every time I let them outside. The next thing I know the kitten comes through the fence and is on the dog pool ledge fixing to fall into the water. He did not try and run when I approached and allowed me to pick him up with out a fight! Hungry with a skin fungus from being wet too much his skin was peeling from his feet ears and face. I feed him from a bottle to give him some of the nutrition he had lost. He loved it. He also was suffering from flea anemia because I pulled over 50 fleas off him and gave him a bath. He quickly healed after that. Very loving and would go limp in your arms. But as time went by I could not spend as much time with him and he retaliated by getting resistant to my handling. So he developed a huge play prey drive as he matured and became a Tom. Starry is still sweet and loving but it takes a minute for him to gain your trust. He does not like the outdoors so he will always be an inside cat! Very neat and clean litter box user and loves wet cat food.
