Splinter's Story

Hi, my name is Splinter! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Social, affectionate, easily overstimulated
-Can Live with Cats: No, Splinter would often fight with the other cats in his previous home. He would be required to be the only cat in the household.
-Can Live with Dogs: Splinter tolerated the German shepherd in his previous home. He might be okay with a calm and cat-savvy dog, so long as they are properly introduced.
-Can Live with Kids: No, Splinter has a bite history, and would be required to go home to an adults only home.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes, Splinter is used to living indoors.
-History of Litter Box Issues: Splinter would often not use his litter box in his previous home. This seems to have been stress related due to the presence of the other unneutered male cats in the household. He has been using his litter pan more consistently in the shelter.
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Bite History: Yes, Splinter would often bite and occasionally break skin in his previous home. This seems to have been a mix of stress from other cats and overstimulation. He would be required to go home with people who are familiar with cat body language.
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter.
Additional Information:
Meet Splinter, a very sweet adult cat who is looking for his forever home. He loves to get head scritches, and will rub on you all day until he gets some. He also enjoys playing with hand toys and exploring new places. Splinter does have a bite history, so he would be required to go home to an adults-only and cat experienced household. If you think Splinter is the cat for you, adopt today!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
