Spike's Story

Gender: Male
Colour: Tabby and white
Date of Birth: September 9, 2023
Meet Spike!

Spike is a handsome ~2-year-old white and brown tabby with a heart just as big as he is!

He's a lower-energy, easygoing boy who absolutely adores his people and will happily sleep in your bed and follow you around like your little shadow. While he loves affection, he's also great at setting boundaries and will let you know with a soft swat when he's had enough pets.

He has his favourite cozy spots around the house, especially by a big sunny window where he can watch the world go by, perfectly content as an indoor cat. Spike is fully litter-trained with no accidents, keeps himself very clean, and never misses a meal--he loves a mix of wet and dry food. He can be a bit chatty in the carrier, but overall, he handles things well. He gets along with other cats but would also do just fine as your one and only, and while he hasn't been tested with dogs, he may do well with a calm, respectful, cat-savvy dog and slow introductions.

Because he communicates his boundaries, he would do best in a home with older kids (13+). He's not a big fan of being picked up, but as he gains confidence, he's already becoming quite the little lap cat. Spike would thrive in a patient, loving home that will give him time to fully blossom, and while he'd love someone home often as he bonds deeply with his person, he can also entertain himself (preferably in a sunny window ☀️).

He is currently on a weight loss journey, so his future family will need to be committed to helping him stay healthy. When Spike first came into foster care, he was nervous, but it didn't take long for him to come around. After his foster mom spent a few nights with him, their bond quickly formed, and now he is her little shadow, often lounging nearby or keeping his foster dad company on his desk while he works.

Spike is truly a gentle, kind-hearted boy who trusts deeply and is grateful for every good thing that comes his way, and he has been such an easy, loving companion--if you're looking for a loyal, sweet cat to share your home with, Spike might just be your perfect match!

Location: Guelph, ON.
Adoption Fee: $275
To meet and adopt this cat, apply at the link below:
https://tinyurl.com/AARApplyNow

Arthur Animal Rescue Co-operative's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adopting through Arthur Animal Rescue! We are a small rescue comprised of caring foster homes throughout Center and North Wellington (Arthur, Mount Forest, Fergus, Elora and surrounding areas). If you see a cat or kitten on our site and would like to learn more about any of them please feel free to send us a message. If you would like to meet any of our adoptable pets in person, submit an adoption application and we can arrange a time for you to meet which is convenient to you and the foster home. In the event that multiple applications are received for a cat or kitten in our rescue, we will review each one and make the best decision based on fit for both the cat or kitten, and their forever family. The adoption fee includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery as well as first vaccinations. The cats and kittens are also dewormed and receive revolution treatment whenever necessary. We also provide info on preparing for a new feline family member to help with the transition to their new homes. And offer ongoing support or advice after the adoption has taken place! If you have questions at all please feel free to contact us!
