Spencer's Story

When Spencer was brought to VIPP in April of 2021, he was thin and matted and afraid. Since being at the shelter, he has gained weight and he has been grooming himself. He appreciates his cozy beds and regular meals but he is still not sure around humans. He will need to be adopted into a home with folks who will let him settle in on his own terms. He gets along with other cats but we don't have any history about his interaction with dogs. A quiet home is best for this boy. Spencer came to VIPP on 4/6/2021. Vashon Island Pet Protectors's Adoption Policy

Vashon Island Pet Protectors will consider adoptive families in the Vashon and surrounding areas. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a forever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

Our Mission

We offer services and programs for Vashon Island residents and their pets with the goal of preventing pet homelessness in our island community. We do this by mobilizing the power of volunteers and through the generosity of our donors and community partners.
