Spaghetti Squash's Story
Meet Spaghetti Squash – The Gentle Soul Learning to Trust

Quick Facts:
Age: 6 months
Gender: Male
Vaccinations: Up to date
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
FeLV & FIV: Negative
Microchipped: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Good With: Cats; would do best with older, respectful children or an adult-only home

Spaghetti Squash may have had a difficult start, but beneath his shy exterior is a tender-hearted kitten just waiting for the right person to help him feel safe. Born on the streets after his mother was abandoned, Spaghetti Squash was rescued along with two of his siblings when the family who found them realized they were in over their heads trying to socialize an entire feline family. Thanks to their compassion, he now has the chance to grow up knowing comfort, consistency, and care.

This quiet boy is what we lovingly call a “watcher.” He prefers to take in the world from a safe distance before deciding it’s time to join in, but once he feels secure, his sweet nature begins to shine. He has a particular fondness for Churu treats, gentle head scritches, and lounging in cozy spots where he can relax without pressure.

Spaghetti Squash is currently thriving in foster care with his best friend, Puzzle, who has been showing him just how fun kitten life can be. From batting at feather toys to stretching out on the furniture like he owns it, Puzzle is helping him build confidence every day. Because of this, Spaghetti Squash would strongly benefit from a home with another friendly, social cat who can continue to guide him.

He is not a fan of being picked up or crowded and prefers affection on his own terms. A calm, predictable home — one without the bustle of small children — will give him the space he needs to blossom into the wonderful companion we know he will be.

If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know…
I might be a little shy when we first meet, but I promise I’m trying my best. Big, busy environments make me nervous, and I feel safest when people move slowly and speak gently. Treats help — especially those delicious Churus — and having a confident kitty friend nearby makes me feel brave. I may never be the type to demand attention, but if you give me patience and kindness, I will show you my soft, loyal heart. Watching me grow more comfortable each day is pretty special, and I would love nothing more than a quiet home where I can finally relax and just be your cat.

To help Spaghetti Squash go From Foster to Forever, apply today at www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

Important Adoption Information and Next Steps:
All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are:
Spayed or neutered
Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations
Microchipped prior to adoption
Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate).
Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment.
We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter.
Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County.

To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org
and complete our adoption application.

After Submitting Your Application:
Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed.

For Pets Already in the Home:
Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe.

Keep in Mind:
We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
