Sophie & Kate's Story

Our girl Sophie has the sweetest face and cheek freckle. She was brought in as a stray with her twin sister, Kate, who she is closely bonded with. They are about 9 months old and adorable little beans.

Sophie is a very playful kitty and spends her time pouncing around in cardboard boxes and pawing at the ice cubes in her water bowl. When she is interested in a snack, you can count on her to choose Churu or Temptations every time. She enjoys being hand-fed and immediately perks up at the shake of a treat container.

Every afternoon, Sophie and Kate snuggle together on their favorite cat tower and wait for their person to walk in the door. The girls are very fond of other cats and cat-friendly dogs, and would do best with an experienced owner who can give them all the time they need to open up.

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a cat.

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. This includes FIV/FeLV testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

For more info on our shelter and available pets, check us out online:

West Milford Animal Shelter Society
Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859

Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
