Sophie (Howl kittens)'s Story
Meet Sophie! Sophie is a quirky little kitten with a gorgeous face and a timid spirit. Sophie has been making a lot of progress, but it is going to take a lot of love and patience to convince her to trust you. She is well behaved, with a chill exterior, and her foster family reports that she isn’t terribly rambunctious or prone to scratching the furniture. Her cute little face, and fluffy smoke-coated body may make you want to reach out and pet her, but Sophie is very clear about her personal boundaries, and does not like to be startled, reached for, or grabbed at. She spends a lot of her time lounging out on the screen porch and enjoying a sunny spot. Though she has an independent streak, and is still learning to trust people, once you earn her trust, she will start to be less frightened of interactions, and allow some gentle touch. Sophie is a difficult nut to crack, but has shown preference and affection for different individuals who have worked with and cared for her. BCC believes that with love, patience, and gentle interactions, she will continue to develop her social skills. Sophie will do best with people that are patient, persistent, and experienced with cats, especially with those having more challenging personalities. She may never become a lap cat, but we believe that she will grow into a saucily opinionated, and independent companion for the right person.

BCC estimates that Sophie was born around June 15, 2025. Her ideal home will be quiet and laid back, with room for her to have her independence. While not bonded to her brother, Calcifer (Howl kittens), it would be ideal for Sophie to find a forever home with him, to give her the familiarity and comfort that she needs to thrive. Her ideal humans will be experienced with cats and will have the time and patience to learn her quirks, and develop her trust. They also will not have young kids, or a noisy or boisterous household that might scare her timid spirit.

Like all BCC kitties, Sophie is spayed, age appropriately vaccinated, snap tested for FIV and FeLV, and microchipped. It is BCC policy not to adopt young kittens as “only kittens” or “singletons” to homes without another young cat to keep them company and to learn and grow with. Once the purrfect adopter applies and is approved, Sophie will be ready to go to her furrever home and family, hopefully with her brother, Calcifer!
