Sophie's Story

This green eyed beauty was abandoned by her owner and had no where to go. The people that bought the place trapped her, got her fixed and brought her to the shelter. We quickly learned she is not a fan of people. She allowed us to pet her when she first got here because she was so frightened, but now that she is comfortable she will not let us touch her. She loves other kitties though! Sophie has been both indoors and outdoors and is litterbox trained. She will make a great mouser or barn kitty for someone! Stone County Humane Society Inc.'s Adoption Policy

We approve adoptions over the phone by responding to a completed adoption application. Please go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will contact you. Our adoption fees are $150 for shelter dogs and $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. We take only cash or check no credit cards. We are open daily from 2 to 5 by appointment only (during the Pandemic). Volunteers are here Monday - Friday from 11 to 5 to answer the phone and help with adoptions.
