Sonic's Story

Meet Sonic, not a Hedgehog!<br/><br/>Sonic is a gorgeous 2-year-old gentleman (born in spring 2024) with a playful spirit, a curious heart, and an elegant streak that makes him impossible to forget. His plush, densely packed fur reminds us of a Russian Blue cat.<br/><br/>Before coming to the shelter, Sonic experienced heartbreak. He was abandoned outside the apartment that had always been his home. The new tenant noticed him returning again and again, hoping to be let back inside. She kindly fed him on the balcony, where he patiently waited for the person he trusted- but sadly, they never came back.<br/><br/>Despite everything, Sonic hasn't lost his trust in people. He's a laid-back, affectionate boy who enjoys life's simple pleasures. He gets along well with the mellow cats in his shelter room and would likely do well with another easygoing feline friend. He also had some interaction with the rescuer's toddler and handled it well.<br/><br/>Sonic loves lounging on the tallest shelf he can find, where he surveys his kingdom with the regal posture of an ancient Egyptian cat. We like to think he may have been a pharaoh's treasured companion in another life! He also enjoys scratching posts and can happily spend time watching birds, neighborhood pedestrians and passing cars through the window.<br/><br/>When it's playtime, Sonic's goofy side shines. He's incredibly curious and loves a game of hide-and-seek. His favorite trick? Sneaking into a closet, waiting patiently, and then popping out to surprise your legs with a playful "Gotcha!"<br/><br/>Sonic is looking for a family who will never leave him behind again, a home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished forever. If you're looking for a sweet, playful companion with a touch of royal elegance and a wonderful sense of humor, Sonic is ready to win your heart.

Safe Haven for Animals's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process We have a clear and well-structured process in place to find the best possible homes for our animals in need. This process begins with you filling out our Adoption Request Form designed to collect important details and insights from potential adopters so we can match you with the best possible pet. Once complete, we move forward by setting up a visit for you to meet our cats in person. One of our Adoption Coordinators will provide a tour of our facility and introduce you to our available cats. Our adoption coordinators have extensive knowledge of every cat and can help answer questions about individual personalities, habits, and special needs. Should you decide to choose a specific cat during this meeting, we then schedule a home visit to deliver your new pet, ensure it’s a safe and suitable environment, and provide a care kit for the new pet. To support a smooth transition, we also make a follow-up call about a week later to see how everything is going to ensure both the adopter and the cat are settling in well together.
