Socks's Story

Socks is a tall, dark and handsome type and is especially attracted to the senior lady cats. Let's just say he is a man who knows his way around a cat house.

He recently was a sensitive companion for our older girl kitty and we decided that she needed him in her plus, plus years, so we put a pause on any adoptions.

And now, it is time for him to find another companion or a permanent home.

Socks was turned into animal control by his owner as part of a court order (it's never a good story.) While at animal control, he was treated for a bladder infection. He was very scared and reactive.

At our facility, he has been a confident guy. He takes a minute to warm up and doesn't like to be carried or picked up. However, he is a steadfast and true friend and a volunteer favorite. He has had zero health issues. Once he acclimated to our cat group, he was pretty quick to be the top cat in an almost all female group (5-6 cats).

Socks is 7 years old. He is a very confident cat who solicits attention but isn't clingy. He is terribly handsome and very smart. Nothing gets by him. He has a gorgeous black coat. He is very expressive in his thinking and well, we just love him and his amazing personality.

Because he was neutered relatively late in life, we think he would do best with other female cats or males that were neutered very young. As stated, he would be an excellent companion for an older female cat or cats.

If you are interested in adopting Socks: Other pets in the home must be current on vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventative and altered. Applicants will be screened, including a home visit.

If you would like to meet Socks, complete an application on our website dogwoodfarmsanctuary.com and then request an appointment. Thanks for your interest in Socks. We will continue to take applications until we find the right match.
