smudge's Story
Smudge
Age: 5 years
Location: Shirley, MA

Smudge is a gorgeous, affectionate kitty looking for her forever home after her elderly caregiver could no longer care for her. She’s a sweet, playful girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

One of Smudge’s favorite games is fetch — yes, fetch! (see attached video) She’ll happily chase after toys and bring them back for another round. While she enjoys a variety of toys, her absolute favorite “fetch item” is a paintbrush. An adopter who enjoys interactive play and making her feel like the star of the show will win her heart quickly.

Smudge loves spending time with her humans and often curls up beside you or hops onto your lap for snuggles. She’s a true little shadow who enjoys keeping you company. She’s not a fan of belly rubs and tolerates being picked up, but she prefers affection on her own terms. Head and chin scratches — and the occasional hug — are always appreciated.

In the past, Smudge experienced stress-related overgrooming. She was trialed on Prozac, but it was not the right fit for her and has since been discontinued. Her overgrooming has subsided, and it appears to be triggered by stress. With a calm, stable environment and plenty of attention and play, she does very well.

Smudge needs to be an only cat, as she does not get along with other cats and prefers to have her people all to herself. She has done well around older children who are respectful of her boundaries, but she would not be a good match for a home with young kids.

Smudge would thrive in a calm, loving home with a cat-savvy adopter who wants a devoted companion, enjoys interactive play (especially fetch!), and is ready to make her the center of attention.

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions.
