Smokey's Story

Meet Smokey! Smokey is a handsome 7-year-old cat looking for a safe place to land during an incredibly difficult chapter for the person who loves him most.

Smokey's owner is battling cancer and relocating to Thayne to focus on treatment and recovery. Unfortunately, the housing plan that would have allowed Smokey to stay with her has fallen through, leaving them with the heartbreaking need to find another option for him immediately.

Smokey wasn't always a house cat. He began life as a feral cat living beneath his owner's home, and over time, patience and love earned his trust. Since then, the two have shared a special bond. If there were any other option, she would never let him go.

While a foster home would be the ideal outcome, Smokey's owner is willing to consider a permanent home if it means ensuring his safety and happiness. What matters most to her is finding the right place for him.

Smokey is a bit shy and has always been more of a one-person cat. He enjoys having the freedom to come and go and may do well as an indoor/outdoor cat or even in the right barn-cat setting. He will need a home away from busy roads and with people who understand that trust takes time. Dogs are likely not a good fit unless they are used to feline siblings and will allow him space. Older children are likely to be best in understanding his tenative demeanor, especially while he is settling in. A calm environment would help him adjust most successfully.

If you think you may be able to help Smokey, please contact:
Stacey at 307-690-3190.
