Smokey is a gorgeous 7-year-old cat looking for a loving home after unexpected medical circumstances changed his family's plans.<br/><br/>Originally a feral cat living under his owner's home, Smokey was given the gift of patience and kindness, and he's been a loyal companion ever since. He can be shy at first and tends to bond closely with his people, but once he trusts you, he is an incredibly devoted friend.<br/><br/>Smokey has enjoyed life as an indoor/outdoor cat and may do well in a quiet home, on a safe property away from busy roads, or even as a barn cat with caring people looking out for him. He would likely do best with a patient adopter who understands that some cats need a little extra time to settle in. Dogs are probably not a good fit for Smokey, unless they have experience giving space to feline family members. <br/><br/>His owner is currently battling cancer and relocating for treatment, making this heartbreaking search necessary. While the hope is that Smokey can find a safe place to stay during this difficult time, his family is ultimately focused on finding whatever arrangement is best for him.
