FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats.
