Simba's Story

Simba is a sweet boy who has had a rough life up until he was rescued in June 2024, and you can see it when you look at him. He was found with an open wound on his neck by a community member who promptly called me for help. I picked him up and took him straight to the vet. Thankfully the wound looked much worse than it was, but after examining him a bit more, we noticed bumps and scabs all over his body and his ears are permanently damaged due to being out in the cold. he had lived outside for a very long time and had to fight constantly to survive. He is approximately 8-9 years old, and was not neutered. An unfixed male cat not only creates hundreds of kittens in a single year, they also have to fight with other 'Toms' for territory, food, and female cats, causing multiple injuries that are never treated, diseases such as Feline Leukemia virus (FelV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), rabies and can get parasites like fleas, ticks, and worms. He has been with the rescue since his rescue, and we are working on gaining his trust and allowing him to be able to trust humans again. He is not particularly fond of other cats, but he can co-exist fine with them. Even after everything he has gone through, he is incredibly quiet and calm, and I do not think I have ever heard him meow.

The Cat's Sass Rescue's Adoption Policy
We begin by informing possible adopters to head to our website to see the cats that are available for adoption. If any catch tehir eye, they fill out an adoption application, which lets us know what cat or cats they are interested in, and tells us all about their household (is it busy or quiet, do they have young kids,, other cats or dogs, etc). Once we determine they would be a good match (not al cats are a good fit for all households and we want the best fit for our cats), we arrange a meet and greet at our Catty Shack (a barn building renovated into a temporary housing facility for up to 20 cats, but it is not open to the public, it is on private land). If they seem to get along at the meet and greet, we will do a trial adoption, and after 7-10 days we will reach out and chat about how things are going, any concerns they have, or if they are happy. If they are happy and want to adopt, we will finalize the adoption process and they will sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
