Shy Guy's Story

Shy Guy is a 1-year-old black cat who is learning more and more each day that people can be safe, kind, and comforting. He still enjoys the security of his favorite hiding spot, but these days, he's much more relaxed there and is happy to let his favorite person come to him.

Shy Guy absolutely loves pets and scratches, especially around his head and cheeks, and he's becoming quite the little purr machine. He now purrs regularly during his interactions, and he recently started purring just from hearing his person talk to him! He's even comfortable being gently touched over most of his body.

He's also becoming more curious about the world around him. He loves looking out the window and keeping an eye on everything happening outside. And while wand toys used to be a little intimidating, he's no longer afraid of them and is becoming more comfortable with playtime.

Shy Guy is very food motivated and happily comes forward for tasty treats and licky snacks. He's still cautious with new people, new places, and sudden movements, so he'll need someone who is willing to let him set the pace and give him time to settle in.

He has a known history with another cat, and in foster care he has also shown curiosity toward a calm dog. With his gentle, cautious personality, he may enjoy having a calm, socially confident feline companion to help him feel even more comfortable.

Shy Guy has come a long way, and he's showing us that there's a sweet, affectionate, curious cat underneath that shy exterior. He just needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to let that side shine.
