Shiitake's Story

Shiitake (DOB: 9/12/2022) is a beautiful brown tabby with white markings, but she's looking for a very specific kind of home. This DSH (Domestic Shorthair) came to us at just one month old, and despite early intervention and a loving foster home, Shiitake remains very fearful of people. While she gets along well with other cats, she prefers her own company and spends much of her time hiding.

Even simple things like vet visits are a challenge, requiring patience and a gentle approach. Though she's healthy and physically lovely, Shiitake isn't interested in being a cuddly companion. She tolerates some petting but clearly prefers to be left to her own devices as she doesn't enjoy it. We suspect something in her early life may have contributed to her timid nature. Therefore, we're seeking a very special sanctuary setting for Shiitake – a quiet, safe place where she can live her days without pressure to interact with humans.

If you have a calm, understanding home and experience with shy or feral cats, Shiitake might be the perfect (low-maintenance!) addition to your feline family.

Learn more about this cat and The Feline Connection, and apply to adopt them on The Feline Connection webpage: http://www.thefelineconnection.org/
_____________________
--ABOUT THE FELINE CONNECTION---
The Feline Connection 501(c)(3) is a foster-driven cat rescue in the Rutland, VT area. The Feline Connection's Adoption Policy
The Feline Connection champions for cats who need homes and we are committed to finding each cat a safe and healthy permanent home. We work to find the best possible home matches for each of our stray, homelss or friendly colony cats based on their unique needs, and the needs of the adopter. We do not have a shelter location, so all of our animals are fostered with families in Rutland County, Vermont, mostly near Rutland. This gives us a unique capability to observe and interact with each cat in a relaxed home environment. Our conversation based adoption process starts with submitting an application followed by a conversation, vet and landlord check (if needed), and then cats visits and home visits as needed for the perfect match. Pictures of the cat’s new home are always welcome. Visit us at http://www.thefelineconnection.org/ for more details
