Shania's Story

Hello, I’m Shania! Despite a rough start being dumped on the streets, I haven’t lost my trust in humans and am able to adjust fairly quickly to new environments with a little time and patience.

Even though I’m not much of a cuddler, I love being near you. I’ll sleep next to you while you watch tv, while you work from home, while you make dinner, while you’re in the bathroom. I think I’m the perfect amount of affectionate: I will seek it out, but I’m not overly needy. I do really love pets though! I do this super cute thing where I will tap you on the arm or the leg when I want them.

I prefer calm environments as loud noises still startle me. It would also be fun to have another kitty friend around when I get my nighttime zoomies. During the day I love to stretch out on my back and take all the naps.

All in all, I would be such an amazing friend! The vet says I’m 4 years young so I’m still young enough to play with wand toys and kickers but old enough to be chill and low maintenance. I would likely do well with older children. I can’t wait to meet my furever family!

Currently in foster care in Koreatown. Foster-to-adopt is always an available option and recommendation.

All Del Gato kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLv, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption.

To begin the application process, please fill out our application here: https://form.jotform.com/212117959297062

We will try our best to be in touch within 24-48 hours.

Thank you!
____________________
Del Gato Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue.

We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized.

We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline population crisis.

When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family.

If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets.
If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments.
Please send us an email at delgatorescue@gmail.com to be a part of our rescue community. Thanks for your support!
