Serenity's Story
Serenity (about 5 and a half months old as of 12/03/25) is a female brown tabby and white shorthaired kitten. Serenity was born to a Waukegan stray that was trapped for spaying just before she gave birth so her kittens were delivered in a cage. Normally this would be an ideal situation and the kittens would all grow up very friendly, but the family that found her mom didn't realize they needed to spend time with the kittens until they came in for their first shots at 6 weeks old and were acting feral. We advised them to spend more time with the kittens but but progress was slow because they didn't have a lot of free time or experience with ferals so at 3 and a half months old we moved them into a more experienced foster home that would have time to essentially tame them. When Serenity was little and first started coming to adoption events we joked that she was ironically named because she was most vocal; often yelling for no reason and the most likely to get overwhelmed and start hissing. Once she got into kitten boot camp however she started calming down and finding her more serene qualities. Now she's the least energetic and wild of her litter, at least until food or treats come out! When she's not ravenously feasting she's a little sweetie, she doesn't demand too much attention but loves being woken up to get scooped up and often starts purring right away. She loves to play with wand toys and is one of those cats that will actually watch TV- Puppy Playtime is her favorite! She's pretty playful but prefers gentle play; her brother Ezekiel gets on her nerves when he plays too hard, so we think she might prefer to be a little sister to a nice middle aged kitty that doesn't want to wrestle too much or with another calmer kitten like her sister Genesis. She loves dogs on TV but hasn't lived with one, we think she'd probably learn to love a sweet cat friendly dog she could lord over. She'd probably do well with most older kids but since she's a little shy from her slow start a really chaotic toddler would be too much for her.

Serenity will be spayed on December 11th and eligible to go to her new home the following week once she's healed up! Apply now so you can bring her home ASAP!
