Samwise's Story

If you love a confident, friendly sweetheart of a cat with golden retriever energy, look no further than our boy Samwise.

Samwise arrived on a block of Brooklyn, seemingly out of nowhere. He showed up dirty, covered in scrapes, and getting into fights with other street cats (sadly, a not uncommon occurance for unneutered male cats.) But what made neighbors take note of Sammy was how friendly he was. He was constantly showing his belly to strangers, rolling on the sidewalks for attention until his white fur turned a dingy gray. Everyone knew he didn't belong outside so they searched for someone to rescue sweet Sammy.

We were so happy to answer that call. Not only was Samwise friendly, he was suffering from a painful condition called entropion. Entropion is developmental complication in the eyelid, where the eyelid rolls inwards, causing lashes and fur to painfully scratch at the cornea. Left untreated it can cause ulcers and blindness.

Samwise had a corrective surgery to fix this condition, and after some healing, his eyes look good as new!

Sammy shows us how grateful he is by being the most loving cat on earth. His fosters say, "Sammy is a perfect cat. His favorite place to be is on your lap, but if he could have his way he'd curl up under your skin. He's very snuggly and super food motivated. He's a perfect match for a home looking for a social, playful cat." Samwise is as sweet and friendly as they come!

Samwise would do best in a home where he can be your one and only pet. His current foster home has cats and a large dog and Sammy prefers to keep his distance and have his humans to himself. Samwise is, however, a GREAT cat for families with small children. He is very sweet and affectionate with his fosters 8-month old child, is not scared of cries, and knows his role is to be the best brother and friend to tiny humans.

Samwise is estimated to be 2 years old and has a clean bill of health. His eye condition is now fully resolved. He has been neutered, vaccinated, has been treated for parasites and worms, is FIV/FeLV negative, and has been microchipped.

Apply to adopt Samwise at: https://forms.gle/hTJDh3Vmw7xSMaHL8
