Salmon's Story

Sad-faced-Salmon was trapped along with 18 of her friends on the property of a single residence in the North Hills. Although the kitties had a wonderful caretaker, the neighbors in the area were not fond of the cats and were not always being kind to them.

Salmon is used to having a human caretaker - she and the other cats used to line the windowsills of the home of their feeder and wait for him to come out with their food. Salmon has been in foster for 3 years. She loves to lounge either on her cat bed or up high on her cat shelves. She is still pretty shy but will now hang out a few feet away from her foster mom while staring at her with her sad face. She really needs an adopter who is committed to going slow with her, starting her out in one small room, and giving her time to adjust. She has SUCH an expressive face - you can always tell when something is worrying her. Once she trusts you, Salmon is not difficult to pick up or handle, though she does not currently like it. Salmon loves her food and hanging out with her foster cat friends, especially Gary, her last remaining colony friend. We do feel that with a patient and committed adopter, Salmon will learn to trust and want to hang out with them.

Salmon has lived with (many) other cats in the past, and we think she would enjoy a friendly cat buddy in her forever home - with proper introductions of course. None of the kitties from this area seem to like dogs, so cat-only homes, please! We think that Salmon would do best in a quiet and calm home, but might do ok with older, respectful, cat-savvy kiddos who know to respect her space.

Salmon is estimated to be about five years old. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. Please consider giving this sweet girl a chance - we know there is an amazing cat in there just waiting for a chance to blossom.

Trash Cat Rescue's Adoption Policy
Typically the potential adopter reaches out either with or without a specific cat in mind. We will usually ask questions about the type of cat the adopter is interested in (any preferences as far as gender, color, personality, etc.), as well as the sort of home the cat would be going to (any kids, other pets, etc.). If we have a cat or kitten who would be a good fit, the adopter can fill out our application for that animal. If not, the person can still fill out the app, and we will keep them if mind if we end up with a cat who we think would be a good fit. Once the app is reviewed/approved (including checking vet and landlord references), we would chat any further with the adopter if needed, and then schedule a meet and greet with them with the cat or kitten. If the animal and the adopter hit it off, the adopter would then fill out our adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and take the cat or kitten home!
