Sage the green eyed loyal companion!'s Story
Hello there, friend- Thanks for stopping by!

At Hobbes Haven our mission is to help shape & support a better life for feral & stray cat colonies in our varying communities of the Columbia River Gorge Oregon.

We want to introduce you to Sage (don't forget his bonded sister Queenie)!

Sage got his name because of his gorgeous emerald-green eyes and because his face and gaze looked very calm and reassuring, like a wise and sage being. Sage was a beautiful example of the transformative work of a rescue: offering a safe haven and watching the transformation take place in front of your eyes as you see a very shy and fearful kitten, flourish to be an extremely attached and loyal boy. Without knowing he is there, I will turn around to see him waiting by my feet or quietly sitting next to be or behind me, just to be near me. He enjoys running on his cat wheel and running after the ribbon wand for a good play session. He likes to tuck his feet in and lay watching you work or right next to you to keep you warm. He is a gentle and tender boy with thankful eyes you feel calm staring into.

He was rescued with his sister Queenie and 12 other kittens at a site of 40+ feral cats.

Sage was lucky to have been rescued along side one of his sisters, Queenie; they both faced some of the harshest conditions born as feral kittens entering the fall season near the base of Mt. Hood. Due to them being rescued together and tamed for domestication alongside one another, they have endured growth together that has bonded them. Our goal is for Sage to be adopted with his bonded pair and sister Queenie.

We hope to find families that will keep in touch with Hobbes Haven and update us with pictures and videos of our rescued angels! Remember that many times we have been fostering these kittens for many months, and that is another reason you know Hobbes Haven is a good hearted organization to support, because our goal is to find the RIGHT homes NOT a home RIGHT NOW.
Here at Hobbes Haven we focus on supporting the health and well being of feral and stray cat colonies via T-N-R-M; during out initial visits to a site, if we encounter kittens or cats young enough or friendly enough to domesticate, we rescue them from those sites and work with them directly to get them healthy and ready for a second chance at a life as a part of a family and a home. Our rescued cats and kittens are unique being that they were born as feral cats, meaning the time it took to domesticate them may have been more involved than others. When you support Hobbes Haven via your adoption and donations, you are helping a bigger ripple effect, because you are supporting existing feral cat colonies stop their cycle of suffering by getting all cats sterilized and vaccinated, but also offering a very rare second chance to a few lucky ones.

At Hobbes Haven, your adoption fee helps us cover this kitten's sterilization, rabies vaccination and testing for FeLV at our collaborating veterinary clinics here in the Columbia River Gorge, this is a transparent one to one transaction, absolutely no revenue is made from this.

Up to the point of adoption, Hobbes Haven has covered FVRCP vaccines (most of the time 3 our of 3 of the first kitten series), deworming, antifungal bath, veterinary treatment for ailments as kittens, food, cat supplies, etc- this is why your donations matter and help make a difference!
