Ryder's Story

As a distinguished older gentleman, Ryder carries his years with grace, though those years do come with the occasional ache and pain, and possibly a touch of arthritis. He moves at his own pace now, and honestly, that just adds to his dignified charm. A little extra care and a cozy soft spot to curl up go a long way with this guy. Don't let his independent streak fool you! Ryder is a deeply loyal companion. He'll follow his favorite person from room to room, and when it comes to scratches, pets, or the occasional unsolicited hug, he is fully on board. Fair warning: affection comes at a cost, and that cost is a generous cloud of black fur.

Ryder lived a life before coming into our care, and it hasn't always been easy. As a result, he can take some time to warm up to new situations and new pet friends, and can be protective of his space with other animals. Given some time and slow introductions, he can come to enjoy the company of his fellow pets.

He accepts a harness without complaint and will absolutely purr about it, especially if it means getting to rest in a patch of sun. Ryder isn't looking for chaos. He's looking for his person: someone patient, loving, and maybe willing to keep a lint roller handy (or perhaps someone who wears black anyway!)
