Rupert's Story
Neutered Male
10 Months
7 Pounds
$40

Rupert is a handsome young brown and white tabby who is still learning that people can be trusted. Found as a stray, Rupert likely had very little positive human interaction early in life, and he remains extremely shy and fearful around people. While he has never tried to bite, he does not enjoy being handled or held and prefers to keep a safe distance while he observes the world around him.

Since coming into care, Rupert has shown that he feels safest in quiet hiding spots like his litterbox or small enclosed spaces. Life indoors in confined areas seems overwhelming for him, and he would likely thrive best in a barn home or other safe outdoor environment where he can have space, routine, and minimal pressure from people.

Rupert is looking for a patient adopter who understands that not every cat wants to be a lap cat. With time and a calm environment, he may continue to build confidence at his own pace, but for now, he simply needs a safe place where he can feel secure and be appreciated for who he is.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.

Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.

Open Adoption Hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm

Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm

Saturday: Noon – 4 pm

I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.

We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
