Rue's Story

Go ahead, take a moment. I'll wait. 😏
Yes, I know — the eyes are something else. Piercing green, a little intense, maybe even a touch dramatic. But don't let the serious face fool you. I am, at my core, just a very cool, very chill, very happy guy who is looking for someone to spend his days with.

I'm Rue — a grey and white guy of about 3 years old with a big handsome tomcat head, a sleek and athletic build, and a personality that is about as easygoing as they come. Some people say I remind them a little of Tom from Tom & Jerry — and honestly, I'll take it. Except unlike Tom, I'm not scheming anything. I'm just wandering around, checking out the high spots, soaking up the window views, enjoying the catio, and living my very best life one relaxed afternoon at a time while I wait to find my forever family.

I love people genuinely and completely. Volunteers here will tell you — I am always happy to see a familiar face come through the door. I'll meet you with calm, friendly energy and make it very clear that pets are not just welcome, they are encouraged. And here's something that will really set me apart: I am one of those rare, truly special cats who will actually roll over and invite you in for a belly rub. A real one. No tricks, no traps, no sudden change of heart halfway through. Just a happy cat on his back enjoying every second of it. Go ahead and ask any volunteer here — it's the real deal. 🐾

I share my room with a few other cats, and while my roommates happen to be resting up from their own medical stuff at the moment, I want you to know I am completely unbothered by their presence. Other cats? Fine by me. I'm not territorial, not stressed, not dramatic about it. I just do my thing — explore, lounge, watch the world from a high perch, wander back down for some pets — and let everyone else do theirs. Whether my next home has another cat or it's just the two of us, I think I could be happy either way, as long as there are good people and sunny spots involved.

What I'm really looking for is someone who appreciates a cat who brings the good vibes without the chaos. I don't need constant entertainment. I don't need to be the center of every moment. I just want to be part of your daily life — hanging out nearby, joining you on the couch, rolling over for a belly rub when the mood strikes, and filling your home with the kind of quiet, steady companionship that only a truly cool cat can offer.

I'm fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered, and an absolutely perfect litter box user — zero drama, zero surprises, just a well-mannered gentleman through and through. All I need now is a home worthy of these cheekbones. 😄
Could that be yours? 💚

🐾💕 Some very important things you should know when applying: Adoption fees for young adult and adult cats are $250 ($265 if microchipped). What our adoption fees include: Adult cats have received a wellness exam, fecal exams to test for intestinal parasites, treated for any known/existing conditions to bring them back to health, SNAP tested for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), and Heartworm. They have also received flea/tick preventative, have been spayed/neutered and are up to date on both their distemper and rabies vaccinations.

For all applicants: Our volunteers do our very best to match an animal’s needs with that of the family’s needs and desires. In an effort to be transparent, please note that we just don’t know how our individual animals, many who have been through prior stress or trauma before arriving at our shelter, will react around young children who are still learning what it means to respect an animals’ boundaries. We are happy to have a beneficial discussion about safety between children and pets.

Applicants and their family members arriving for meet and greets will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival and prior to meeting our animals.

Please also expect to have at least 2 visits as part of the adoption process at our shelter- one for the initial meet and greet, and one for the adoption appointment if a match is made. It’s important to us that we are properly matching animals to adopters, preparing our adopters for their special adoption day, and for a lifetime of happy pet ownership with your adopted pet.

Please double check your application for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting it to us. Please be as thorough as possible when answering application questions as the more you elaborate, the more information we have to consider, the more likely we are to have a full picture of the care, support, and love our cats/kittens will receive for their adopted lifetime and your particular application will be at the top of our mind when placing cats/kittens in their chosen forever homes.

You can complete an application at ARFCT.org and submit it to our email at arfct.adoptions@gmail.com for consideration. Thank you!
