Rodriguez's Story

Hi, my name is Rodriguez! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Reserved at first, affectionate when comfortable, easily overstimulated
-Can Live with Cats: Rodriguez is FIV+, and can therefore only interact with other FIV+ cats. He will likely do well with some resident FIV+ cats, so long as they are properly introduced.
-Can Live with Dogs: Unknown history. A slow and supervised introduction with a calm and cat-savvy dog would be ideal.
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history. Rodriguez will likely get along with quiet and cat-experienced teenagers, so long as they respect his boundaries.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes, Rodriguez is immunocompromised and cannot go outside.
-History of Litter Box Issues: None
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Bite History: None
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter and microchip.
Additional Information:
Meet Rodriguez, a very sweet adult cat who is looking for his forever home. He can be a bit aloof at first, but once he is comfortable he is the biggest cuddle bug. He has a tendency to get overstimulated, so a household with knowledge of cat body language would be ideal. Rodriguez has tested as FIV+, and will be required to be an indoor only cat and can only interact with other FIV+ cats. Potential adopters will need to be prepared to care for an immunocompromised cat for the rest of his life. If you think Rodriguez is the cat for you, adopt today!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
