Rocky's Story

Rocky is a senior cat (about 13) who has faced several challenges in life, but he is a great cat who is looking for a forever home to live out his golden years. Originally adopted to a family many years ago, Rocky was eventually returned in 2020. At this point, he began peeing outside of the litterbox to mark territory (the vet was unable to determine a medical reason).

Since then, Rocky has become the unofficial START II mascot and mans the front desk every morning. Curious and completely unafraid of dogs (even when he should be), Rocky loves to explore most of the shelter, but he prefers to be away from other cats. He tolerates being picked up, but he doesn’t love it: Instead, if you want him to go somewhere, use his favorite thing: Temptations treats! He can never get enough. Rocky also loves to hang out near people, and he enjoys being pet. One funny thing is that he loves to drink water trickling out of the tap!

Rocky is neutered and has all his shots.

In addition to urine marking, Rocky has also lost weight as a senior. We know it will take a very special person who would work with him and find a way to show him love in a calm home. While we all love having Rocky here, we would love so much for him to not have to go back into a cage when we leave for the night.

If you think you might be that special person or you might know someone, please reach out to us at start2nj@yahoo.com or call Jodi at (201) 925-9514.
