Rockette's Story

Bonded pair - deeply attached and must stay together
Devon is affectionate, social, and loves being part of everything you do
Rockette is gentle, quiet, and finds comfort in independence and space
May thrive in a peaceful home w/ adults or older, respectful kids or teens
Homes with other pets may be a good match depending on personality match and household set-up

Meet Devon & Rockette!

Devon and Rockette have been the unofficial mascots of HSCC for a number of years. Despite their different personalities, their commitment to being each other's family has been unwavering. They are now looking to give up their non-profit status in order to transition into an early retirement.

When he arrived at HSCC, Devon did not want human friends. We supported this choice and offered him a safe outdoor area where he could lead his wild, independent cat life. These days, miraculously, his true identity as an emotional support lap cat, willing to bring comfort and love to anyone in need, is undisputed. Does he still have his wild instincts and love to have freedom to explore? Absolutely! However, these days he is looking to get these needs met in an indoor environment due to a change in his medical needs. After an injury, a medical work-up identified that he was FIV+, as well as a heart murmur that needs to be monitored and managed with medication.

Rockette may prefer to stick to moving in the shadows and avoids being the center of attention. When Devon had to come inside, it quickly became evident that Rockette missed and needed her friend - so she came inside too. There is something so endearing and special in the micro-moments of Rockette's curiosity about the whole "being friends with humans" thing that Devon is always raving about. Will today be the day that she will let someone show her the magic of an ear rub or a chin scratch? We aren't there yet, but nobody has totally given up hope that someday, with a special person she might get there. If not, her perfect person will respect and understand that that's totally okay too!

We are so hopeful that they will find a special home to love and appreciate each of them for their own unique qualities. After years of living outdoors, they will both be able to enjoy the comforts of an indoor lifestyle, together.

A home with attention to environmental enrichment to provide flexible spaces to allow both cats to exhibit species-typical behaviors, in the ways that they feel comfortable (think climbing, perching, scratching, hiding, etc.) If you have the ability to bring the outdoors inside in some way, that sweetens the deal!

Devon may enjoy controlled outside time for exercise and mental stimulation. This confident guy will be the envy of the neighborhood cats once he masters his harness and leash game.

Visit our Adoption Center to learn more about meeting your potential new best friend!
