Rio's Story
**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**

Meet Rio — part cat, part cartoon character, 100% iconic moustache.

First things first: the moustache. It’s not just a marking, it’s a statement. Rio knows he looks good and fully expects compliments.

This fluffy guy is basically a walking cloud with legs slightly too big for his body — which means yes, he occasionally trips over them in the most endearing, slapstick way possible. Graceful? No. Adorable? Extremely.

Rio is a professional tunnel zoomer and spring toy enthusiast. If it crinkles, bounces, or can be dramatically pounced on, he’s all in. When playtime is over, he’ll switch gears and come find you for a cuddle, complete with the tiniest, sweetest meow… followed by a purr so loud it could power a small appliance.

He’s also a total social butterfly — fantastic with kids and wonderful with other cats (he joined a crew of four like he’d always lived there). While he hasn’t had long hangouts with dogs just yet, he has had a polite face-to-face meeting and handled it like a champ.

And yes, he’s got the manners to match the moustache: perfect litter box habits and happily eats both wet and dry food.

If you’re looking for a soft, snuggly goofball with main character energy and a moustache that deserves its own fan club, Rio is your guy.

Would you like to make Rio, and his companion Jojo, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
