Ringo (Special Needs - Blind, Recovering from Injuries)'s Story
Ringo: Brave Little Fighter Seeking a Quiet Place to Heal and Plenty of Cuddles

Hi, I’m Ringo. I’m a super sweet young cat who is seeking a forever home that can provide lots of cuddles. With only one eye, I may not be able to see you super clearly, but I have no trouble finding a warm lap!

I was a stray kitten, trying to survive on the streets of Boston. I was recently hit by a car and was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital to get fixed up. From there I moved into a foster home to quietly recover, where I’ve been resting, healing, and showing everyone what a brave and affectionate little guy I am.

Even after everything I’ve experienced, I am remarkably loving. My foster loves me, and gushes about how sweet I am! I even get along well with my chill doggy foster brother. I adore being petted, cuddling on the couch, and curling up in a welcoming lap. As I’ve begun to feel safer, I’ve also found my voice! I now greet my foster with small trills and quiet purrs, which seem to make the humans ridiculously happy.

I’m curious about the world and eager to explore it, even though I’m mostly or completely blind. I may be able to distinguish some light or shadows, but I lost one eye following the accident and have very limited vision in the other. Because of this, it takes me a little longer to learn a new space, but blindness hasn’t taken away my curiosity or my desire to play. I just need a predictable environment and a little extra time to create a map of my surroundings.

I am still recovering from several injuries. I have a fractured sacrum that currently limits my movement, although my doctors say I’ve already made encouraging progress. I also suffered a ruptured eardrum that is improving, a fractured canine tooth that will need veterinary attention, and damage to the whiskers on one side of my face. Those whiskers should grow back and help me better understand what is around me.

For now, I am on crate rest through at least the end of September, or until my veterinarian clears me for more activity. I also receive medication every eight hours. My adopter or foster will need to follow my veterinary instructions closely, bring me to any necessary follow-up appointments, and help me resist the temptation to do too much before my adorable fuzzy body is ready.

I am also cryptorchid, which means one testicle was retained and my first neutering procedure could not be completed. I will need another surgery in the future to become fully neutered.

Despite all that, I’m already showing flashes of the playful, happy cat I am! During supervised breaks from my crate, I enjoy cuddling on the couch with my foster and the resident dog. I’ve responded very well to my calm canine friend and may enjoy living with another gentle, respectful animal.

My ideal home is quiet, patient, and easy to navigate. Right now, I need someone who is home throughout the day and able to maintain my medication and recovery schedule. Once I’ve healed, I’ll still need time to learn my surroundings. Keeping furniture and essential items in consistent places will help me build confidence and move safely.

I’ve already survived the hardest part. Now I need someone who can see beyond my injuries and give me the time, care, and affection I need to heal. In return, I’ll bring you quiet purrs, gentle trills, devoted cuddles, and the privilege of watching one very brave little cat discover just how good life can be.

Personality traits: Affectionate, brave, curious, friendly, gentle, funny, easygoing, cuddly, lap lover, purrbaby, resilient, and sweet

Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program that places the intended adoptee with the potential adoptive family. This ensures that your feline companion is the perfect fit as well as provides support as you both transition into your new life together.

You can fill out an adoption application here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1685w60NjfU2eeE55Cd57TAaEZU7bERjyY825EMto48sTQw/viewform

Please reach out to Fitchburg Friends of Felines directly at 978-222-3170 or fitchburgfriendsoffelines@gmail.com with questions.
