Richie is truly one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. Having spent his entire life outdoors, he’s naturally a bit shy at first—but don’t let that fool you. With a little patience, some gentle petting, and a few head and shoulder massages, he melts into a purring machine. Once he trusts you, he completely opens up and adores his human. <br/><br/>Despite his timid nature, Richie has never shown a hint of aggression. Even during an emergency evacuation from the fires, he remained calm, never making a sound in his crate and handling the transport like a champ. <br/><br/>Richie is a low-maintenance, easygoing companion. His daily routine? Eat, nap, use the litter box, scratch his favorite post, and repeat. He enjoys food (maybe a little too much!), appreciates a peaceful environment, and would thrive in a calm home where he has a dedicated space to feel secure. <br/><br/>He gets along well with other cats as long as they respect his boundaries—his foster cat sister understands this, and they coexist beautifully. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue.<br/><br/>We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized.<br/><br/>We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline population crisis.<br/><br/>When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family.<br/><br/>If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets.<br/>If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments.<br/>Please send us an email at delgatorescue@gmail.com to be a part of our rescue community.
