Richard's Story

Hi, I'm Richard! I used to be a stray, but I made sure that didn't last long. When the rescue team found me in 2025, I kept jumping into their van like, "Hey... I'm coming with you." They didn't really have a choice. I did have an eye infection back then, but I'm all healed now. One of my eyes is still a little cloudy, but it doesn't bother me at all and I don't need any treatment. It just gives me a bit of a signature look. I'll be honest though... the shelter can make me a little shy. It's a lot of noise and new things, so I might take a minute to warm up. But once I feel safe, I'm that same super friendly, people-loving guy who hopped into the van without a second thought. Oahu SPCA's Adoption Policy

Potential adopters must fill out an application. If approved they will be considered for adoption and can meet with animals. Outside of the pandemic, people can come to the shelter to view animals for adoption as well. Then an adoption application is filled out, a donation fee made and pets can go to their new homes.
