Red's Story

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.
I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.
I would do best in a home with only adult humans.

A volunteer writes: Red came to us from a home with many other cats and considerably less experience with people. Adjusting to Care Center life is a big ask but Red's determined to do so, provided she gets a little help from some new friends. She wasn't particularly interested when I offered my hand in friendship and we had a bit of a Goldilocks situation with treats until Red's favorite volunteer told me which one she likes best. After snacks, Red decided I could now pet her. Gently and very subtly leaning her neck into my hand for some scritches, she allowed herself to make a friend. We fully recognize and respect what a big step this is for her. Shelter life can be a lot and Red tends to feel most comfortable when it's a bit more quiet, but please come and fall in love with Red's potential at the Staten Island Care Center. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 7.375lbs Age: 1yrs 1mths 3wks Animal has been Spayed
