Queen Elizabeth's Story

Hi, I'm Queen Elizabeth - a 6-year-old Domestic Shorthair with royal boundaries and refined taste.

I'll be honest with you... I'm declawed, and because of that, I don't trust easily. When a cat loses her claws, she loses her first line of defense, so the world can feel a little overwhelming. That means I might seem a bit "spicy" or standoffish at first. I just need patience and someone who understands that trust is earned slowly with me.

I'm not the full-body petting, scoop-me-up-and-cuddle type. In fact, too much handling makes me overstimulated pretty quickly. But gentle head pets? Soft chin scratches? Now you're speaking my language. I enjoy companionship without constant holding - I like being near my person, just not draped across them like a scarf. If you're looking for a lap cat, I'm probably not your girl. If you're looking for a dignified roommate who values mutual respect, I'm absolutely your Queen.

I could do well with older, respectful children who understand my boundaries. I also may do fine with low-energy, calm dogs who won't crowd me and are happy to coexist peacefully. I do well with other low-energy, independent cats who understand personal space.

I adore sunbathing in a warm window, enjoy a tasty treat now and again, and a wand toy will absolutely awaken my playful royal spirit.

I'm up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, FeLV/FIV tested, and spayed - ready to rule my forever kingdom.

If you can't adopt me, please consider fostering or donating toward my care. Every Queen deserves her castle... maybe mine is with you.

Animal Care Society Inc's Adoption Policy
Visit our web site at http://www.animalcaresociety.org/ Why Adopt from ACS? One of the best things about life is that it’s full of second chances! When people adopt a new family member from a shelter they are giving a pet a second chance in life! Many folks go to a breeder for a specific type of pet but those same animals can be found at the Animal Care Society! And if there isn’t such an animal at our shelter, ACS staffers are happy to refer interested parties to the RIGHT breed rescue group! The pets available at the Animal Care Society are special. Careful selection, constant socialization, diligent loving daily care and even hand raised kittens and puppies make our candidates for adoption a premium in the shelter world. While we are still a shelter, we make every effort to make a cat or dog feel at home here! It goes a long way in deferring some of the kennel fatigue experienced by shelter animals.
