Puddy is an approximately 7-year-old little lady who may have been described by her previous owners as a cat who just "eats and sleeps"-but spend a little time getting to know her, and you'll discover there's much more to this small, slightly spicy lovebug.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Puddy is a low-energy, affectionate cat who knows what she likes and isn't afraid to communicate her boundaries. During the day, you'll most often find her happily napping on the bed or lounging on the couch. But when her person comes home in the evening, Puddy's affectionate side comes out. She'll greet you, and once you settle onto the couch, don't be surprised if she climbs right into your lap and starts requesting pets.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Puddy loves affection, but she appreciates a human who listens to her cues. She does best with gentle, brief petting sessions followed by a little pause. If she wants more-and she often does!-she'll let you know. Building trust with Puddy is about respecting that communication, and once you develop a rapport with her, she can be an incredibly loving companion.<br/><br/><br/><br/>She isn't particularly interested in toys or high-energy play, so Puddy would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a quiet companion who would rather nap beside you-or on you-than chase toys around the house. If your ideal evening involves relaxing on the couch with a warm cat curled up in your lap, Puddy may be your girl.<br/><br/><br/><br/>We've also learned that Puddy is capable of forming relationships with new people. She spent a week in a foster home with a friend, and after being given time to decompress, she settled into her familiar routine: lounging on the bed and seeking out morning pets. It was a lovely reminder that although Puddy may need some patience at first, she can learn to trust and become affectionate with a new person.<br/><br/><br/><br/>There is a spicy side to this little lady. Puddy strongly prefers that certain necessary indignities-such as nail trims and getting into a carrier for veterinary visits-simply not happen. An experienced cat person who is comfortable being calm, confident, prompt, and gentle when handling her would be ideal. Nail trims may be easiest when she is extremely sleepy, and stressful situations such as veterinary visits may benefit from veterinarian-prescribed medication such as gabapentin when appropriate.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Puddy would likely be happiest in a quiet, adults-only home with someone who understands cats and appreciates a more independent personality. Her ideal situation would probably be as the only cat, where she can enjoy all the good sleeping spots-and all the available laps-to herself. She may potentially tolerate another calm, adult cat with an appropriately slow introduction, but a solo-cat home would be the safest bet.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Most importantly, Puddy needs someone who won't mistake her boundaries for a lack of affection.
