Puddin's Story

Puddin "Meowser" is a 5-year-old male domestic shorthair who is available for adoption at CCHS! Puddin is more of an independent boy who would do best as the only pet in the home, but he likes human companions when he's in the mood! Enter his communal room, and he will grace you with his presence by hopping down from his hidey cube and rubbing against your legs. He enjoys looking out his window and being in-the-know to the happenings at the shelter. Come meet Puddin at CCHS!<br/><br/>Puddin is a VOLUNTEER FAVORITE pet! Here's what Cat Socializer, Scott, has to say about him:<br/><br/>"Puddin makes me laugh out loud. He attacks his toys with serious deliberation-hiding first for cover, furtively peeking out to choose a route for ambush, and then executing the attack. He usually then runs for cover, eager to play the game all over again. But sometimes there's a chapter two: he falls on his side, wraps his mittens around the toy, and kicks the toy vigorously with his feet. He'll wear himself out doing this and then stretch out next to me on the floor.<br/><br/> He also loves his windows, one giving him a view of the front desk and entrance, the other looking out at our memorial wall and nearby Kearns Drive. He keeps a watchful eye on the front desk, especially when dogs are involved. And the window that looks outside: well - there are birds, people, dogs, squirrels, cars - all kinds of interesting things for this cat to watch."

Champaign County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
The first step toward adoption is coming to the shelter to meet the animals. Once you have decided on an animal you would like to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption application followed by a brief interview with one of our adoption counselors. If you prefer to fill out an Adoption Application online ahead of time, please visit the CCHS website. While submitting an application online will save some time during your visit to the shelter, submitting an application online does not place a "hold" on an animal, nor is it a guarantee of adoption. It generally takes 24-72 hours for the adoption staff to complete processing applications, so we do not send animals home the same day. MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS: CCHS accepts up to three applications per pet and priority for adoption is given to the first family to submit an application. If interested in a specific animal, we recommend calling the shelter prior to your visit for more information on their status. Please bring a valid photo ID with you for your visit to the shelter. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt from CCHS. Hours for Adoptions: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM The shelter is closed on Tuesdays and major holidays.
